Brookhouse Paintings

Having lived away from home for many years and painting wilderness areas I thought it would be interesting to paint on and around the street I grew up on. I started a couple of years before my Mum died. If i go there now and sit on the pavement sketching, there are people who don't recognise me who come out and question me as to my motives. Being of the first generation to grow up on that street it is a very strange feeling to be approached in this way. It has enabled me a perspective on life in such areas I wasn't privvy to whilst growing up there.
I blame this jaded paranoia on news saturation and the Daily Mail.
